Baby #2 - 36 weeks

Wow, where has this pregnancy gone?
I went to the midwife last week, everything looks great! Baby is in position and ready to come out.
The midwife guesses that the baby will be about the same size as Nathan (7 1/2 to 8 pounds), and says that he seems to be long.  Let's all act surprised at a long, skinny baby coming from me and my husband.
I'm still feeling great! This is wonderful considering I have an almost 2 year old that has a high need for his mommy right now.
The midwife shared that the baby was not just head down, but seems to have "dropped."  Then he shared that I should enjoy my last week of quiet, because the baby could come as early as next week.  Then I walked out of the office and cried because OH MY GOSH I'M HAVING A BABY!!! When did this happen???  I haven't unpacked anything, the room is not ready, I don't even have both the car seat bases in the car.
So...I've got some work to do.
I don't think that I am close to being done yet.  I certainly don't have the feelings of "I am absolutely done being pregnant" yet.  Now that I know what it is like to have a newborn, I think I will try to keep him in my womb as long as possible.

In other news:
Baby#2 is moving A LOT! He moves way more than I remember Nathan moving when I was pregnant with him.  Baby #2 also gets the hiccups often as of late.  I use to think its cute, now its kind of annoying when I am trying to sleep.

  1. I put Ben's carseat in the van on a Friday when I was 39 weeks. He was born about 18 hours later. Maybe if you're not quite ready for #2 to show up don't put the carseat in yet. :)

Labor Induction Technique that does work....

Almost from the day that I found out that I was pregnant, I thought that Jesus told me (weird, I know) that baby Goulet was going to come on October 21st. October 21st is also the anniversary of Daniel and I getting engaged. The year that we got engaged October 21st was sweetest day, so Daniel thought that it was a perfect day to get engaged. Even though I have thought that whole time that I would have a baby on the 21st, I am not a patient woman. And I especially do not like surprises, so the suspense of going in the labor was killing me (see previous posts). On the 20 th , in my quest to go into labor I drank Castor oil. Gross I know, but I mixed it with juice and it wasn't bad. I went for me daily walk, and felt nothing. Within a couple of hours, the Castor oil had kicked in. Castor oil in found at drug stores, and is typically used as a laxative. I can now say from personal experience, that it is a good laxative if you would like to completely clean your bowels out...

Warning: Cute overload ahead.

Ode to our awesome friend, Jenna. Jenna is our incredibly funny, caring and all around wonderful neighbor. Not only can she sing, play guitar, have great hair and tie a scarf in 25 different ways, she also can take awesome pictures. Like the pictures that she took of me while I was 9 months pregnant, anyone that can make a hugely pregnant woman look comfortable deserves a medal. She took this belly picture of me: Jenna is also chronically Nathan's growth. She came over the other night to take some Christmas card/one month old pictures. Let's just say that Nathan is not the easiest subject to work with. You have to work around the fact that he doesn't focus, has little head control, and favors looking to the right. Despite these challenges Jenna just sent us these pictures. I can barely handle the cuteness, it makes me temporarily forget the 51 pound weight gain, weeks of puking, and hours of labor. This face makes me become delusional enough to think of how many...

Elastic waist pants

One update that I forgot was that I made the transition to Maternity pants. I've been wearing my regular pants and using Bella Bands. Which are an awesome invention that my friend lent to me. Its basically a tube top for your waist that covers up the fact the your jeans are unzipped and help together with a rubber band. This worked for awhile. But then, I tried maternity jeans. Here's the story of me buying maternity clothes: I had a left over gift certificate from our wedding to use and I didn't know what to buy with it. It was kind of weird to me to use it for this purpose, but it is what we need right now. Nothing like keeping the major life events on a close timeline. When I tried them on, I learned that they are not just an elastic waist. Maternity jeans are made of 100 percent stretch fabric. They are the comfy sweat pant of the jean world. Sure they might have a fake zipper, but I can wear them all day and not race home and undo the multiple rubber bands extendin...
