Elijah 6 month update

Elijah is 6 months old!

Here's all about Elijah right now

Food: Elijah started solid food last month.  I dragged my feet and waited on this, but the little guy is hungry! We now eats about 3 times a day and he likes everything we have tried so far.

Rolling: Elijah learned how to roll last month.  The only problem with this is that he still hates to be on his belly.  Here's our pattern now: Elijah rolls onto his belly, Elijah screams and won't roll back over eventhough he can, I flip him back onto his back, Elijah waits about 10 seconds and then rolls back onto his belly.  Repeat this process about 25 times and it's a party. :)

Laughing: Elijah loves to laugh and I love to make him laugh.  He is really one of the happiest babies I have ever seen.  Even when I put him to bed he kind of just babbles himself to sleep.

Sleep: Elijah is still taking 3 naps a day right now: a one hour nap in early morning, a two hour nap in the late afternoon, and a two hour nap in the afternoon.  This is a great schedule.  Elijah really does prefer to sleep in a crib or pack and play now, he does not sleep very long in his carseat anymore.  Elijah wakes up from his afternoon nap around 4:00.  This leads to an early bedtime.  Elijah usually is ready for bed around 6:15pm, and he wakes up between 6 and 7 in the morning.

The head shake: Elijah learned to shake his head "no" this past week.  We laughed at first, now he finds this hilarious.  He shakes his head no to pretty much every question that we ask him.

Growing like a bean

Another brilliant baby idea! :) I thought this would come in handy to measure our little bean. He seems to grow so quickly, this can keep us up to date. It's a baby measuring sheet, just lay babies head in the center and it tells you how long they are. Parents can measure baby from any direction, find more photos and info here.

Childbirth, Childbirth everywhere

We attended our first childbirth class last night, an event that neither Daniel or I was looking that forward to. I was hesitant for a few reasons, one being that the minute I put this on the calender THREE MONTHS AGO, other events happening on these specific Mondays have been coming up. Secondly, is that my husband has a condition that happens during every parenting type of class that we go to, lets call it "giggle-at-inappropriate-times disease." It's not that he is not interested in the topics, but for some reason the other parents in the classes that we go to are usually really reserved and quite. So we will sit in silence waiting for the class to begin, sit silently through the class and then leave. Daniel's response to this is to make jokes and laugh throughout the class. Childbirth class has been no exception to this trend, and I joined him in the giggling this time. Although it hurt so bad to try to hold in my laughter, I began to have tears. All of th...

Labor Induction Technique that does work....

Almost from the day that I found out that I was pregnant, I thought that Jesus told me (weird, I know) that baby Goulet was going to come on October 21st. October 21st is also the anniversary of Daniel and I getting engaged. The year that we got engaged October 21st was sweetest day, so Daniel thought that it was a perfect day to get engaged. Even though I have thought that whole time that I would have a baby on the 21st, I am not a patient woman. And I especially do not like surprises, so the suspense of going in the labor was killing me (see previous posts). On the 20 th , in my quest to go into labor I drank Castor oil. Gross I know, but I mixed it with juice and it wasn't bad. I went for me daily walk, and felt nothing. Within a couple of hours, the Castor oil had kicked in. Castor oil in found at drug stores, and is typically used as a laxative. I can now say from personal experience, that it is a good laxative if you would like to completely clean your bowels out...
