Buttoned Up

Something unimaginable happened this past week, I though it would never happen but it did. It was one of my biggest fears of pregnancy.... After gaining 51 POUNDS (go big or go home :) ) during my pregnancy I can now fit into SOME of my pre-pregnancy jeans. And I have to say that I am getting used to pants that don't have an expandable tummy waist. I forgot how low real jeans are. I still have 9 pounds to lose, but I account for some of the pounds with my baby feeding boobs.
I have to say that I thought it would be alot easier to lose weight that it has been. For some reason I thought it was special baby weight that was just sucked out with your breast milk. But no, I have actually had to lose weight, REAL weight. My stomach is almost back without much work. But my butt, it had it's own weather system.
So I have been cutting out sugar, except on holidays. Last week, Martin Luther King Jr day counted as a holiday. WHAT? Banks were closed, it counts. I starting running again trying to go for my perpetual goal of running a marathon or half-marathon.
And I have something else to thank for the shrinking of my post baby butt.... a little Christmas present called Physique 57. It's one of the hardest workouts I have ever done. Its kind of like a ballet class, Pilate's, and weight lifting combined. And it fit everything that I was looking for: 1.I can do it in my pajamas.
2. I can do it at home with no equipment while Nathan sleeps.
3. It's challenging. The instructor says this is on purpose so that you can use the DVDs for along time.
4. Kelly Ripa uses it.

  1. Congrats on buttoning up! Seriously - and Nathan is only 3 months old. I kept telling myself what I kept reading, that it takes 9 months to put on and 9 months to take off. Thankfully it didn't take me 9 months either, and yes, I think extra weight must be due to the baby-feeding boobs... :) And just wait, if you keep breastfeeding Nathan, I wouldn't be surprised if around 9 months you drop below weight.

Growing like a bean

Another brilliant baby idea! :) I thought this would come in handy to measure our little bean. He seems to grow so quickly, this can keep us up to date. It's a baby measuring sheet, just lay babies head in the center and it tells you how long they are. Parents can measure baby from any direction, find more photos and info here.

Childbirth, Childbirth everywhere

We attended our first childbirth class last night, an event that neither Daniel or I was looking that forward to. I was hesitant for a few reasons, one being that the minute I put this on the calender THREE MONTHS AGO, other events happening on these specific Mondays have been coming up. Secondly, is that my husband has a condition that happens during every parenting type of class that we go to, lets call it "giggle-at-inappropriate-times disease." It's not that he is not interested in the topics, but for some reason the other parents in the classes that we go to are usually really reserved and quite. So we will sit in silence waiting for the class to begin, sit silently through the class and then leave. Daniel's response to this is to make jokes and laugh throughout the class. Childbirth class has been no exception to this trend, and I joined him in the giggling this time. Although it hurt so bad to try to hold in my laughter, I began to have tears. All of th...

Labor Induction Technique that does work....

Almost from the day that I found out that I was pregnant, I thought that Jesus told me (weird, I know) that baby Goulet was going to come on October 21st. October 21st is also the anniversary of Daniel and I getting engaged. The year that we got engaged October 21st was sweetest day, so Daniel thought that it was a perfect day to get engaged. Even though I have thought that whole time that I would have a baby on the 21st, I am not a patient woman. And I especially do not like surprises, so the suspense of going in the labor was killing me (see previous posts). On the 20 th , in my quest to go into labor I drank Castor oil. Gross I know, but I mixed it with juice and it wasn't bad. I went for me daily walk, and felt nothing. Within a couple of hours, the Castor oil had kicked in. Castor oil in found at drug stores, and is typically used as a laxative. I can now say from personal experience, that it is a good laxative if you would like to completely clean your bowels out...
