Nathan loves...

Here's what Nathan has been up to in January..... These are the things he loves.

1. Baking. Nathan loves to help me bake, eventhough I am not really a baker. His favorite to make lately has been muffins. Let's just say its a crowded Goulet kitchen these days.

2. The iPhone. He still love still loves the iPhone. He pretty much does everything on his own now. His favorite games are the PBS kids app and the Little Stars Preschool game that has you identify shapes and colors.

3. Crawling in his brothers bed. Last month the struggle was to keep Nathan in his room at bedtime. Now the struggle is to keep him in his bed. He likes to climb in with Elijah and play. When I remove him from the crib he always tells me "but he's my best friend." Way to manipulate buddy!

4. Sorting. Elijah likes stacking and Nathan likes sorting and lining up cars. Nathan particularly likes sorting by color.

5. His Cars character cars. These 7 cars character go with Nathan everywhere. At $2-$3 a piece they were a great investment.

6. Pajamas! It is Nathan's mission in life to stay in his pajamas all day. Because the soft shirts and sweat pants he wears feel so different. :/ Some days I even let him wear his pajamas under his clothes.

7. The Froggy books. I used these alot when I worked in preschool, but Nathan loves the Froggy books. I think the favorites are Froggy learns to swim and Froggy plays soccer.

8. Dressing up. Dressing up is still a popular game in our house. Nathan usually chooses to be Spider-Man. Lately though he has also been using his blanket as a cape.

9. Sleeping in. No complaints here! Nathan must be in a growth spurt or something but the last 2 weeks he has been sleeping in later than Elijah most days. I go in and get Elijah between 6:30am-7:30am and Nathan will be still covered by his blanket snoring away. In fact, I've been having to wake him up to go places in the morning. He also has been not sleeping during rest time so I am not sure if this is connected.

Growing like a bean

Another brilliant baby idea! :) I thought this would come in handy to measure our little bean. He seems to grow so quickly, this can keep us up to date. It's a baby measuring sheet, just lay babies head in the center and it tells you how long they are. Parents can measure baby from any direction, find more photos and info here.

Childbirth, Childbirth everywhere

We attended our first childbirth class last night, an event that neither Daniel or I was looking that forward to. I was hesitant for a few reasons, one being that the minute I put this on the calender THREE MONTHS AGO, other events happening on these specific Mondays have been coming up. Secondly, is that my husband has a condition that happens during every parenting type of class that we go to, lets call it "giggle-at-inappropriate-times disease." It's not that he is not interested in the topics, but for some reason the other parents in the classes that we go to are usually really reserved and quite. So we will sit in silence waiting for the class to begin, sit silently through the class and then leave. Daniel's response to this is to make jokes and laugh throughout the class. Childbirth class has been no exception to this trend, and I joined him in the giggling this time. Although it hurt so bad to try to hold in my laughter, I began to have tears. All of th...

Labor Induction Technique that does work....

Almost from the day that I found out that I was pregnant, I thought that Jesus told me (weird, I know) that baby Goulet was going to come on October 21st. October 21st is also the anniversary of Daniel and I getting engaged. The year that we got engaged October 21st was sweetest day, so Daniel thought that it was a perfect day to get engaged. Even though I have thought that whole time that I would have a baby on the 21st, I am not a patient woman. And I especially do not like surprises, so the suspense of going in the labor was killing me (see previous posts). On the 20 th , in my quest to go into labor I drank Castor oil. Gross I know, but I mixed it with juice and it wasn't bad. I went for me daily walk, and felt nothing. Within a couple of hours, the Castor oil had kicked in. Castor oil in found at drug stores, and is typically used as a laxative. I can now say from personal experience, that it is a good laxative if you would like to completely clean your bowels out...
