RIP minivan

So we love our minivan. I searched for 2 months for the right can at the right price. I test drove it and bought the van on my own while Daniel was in Brazil. When he came home, he sat in it one time and declared that he loved it too! It was the first car we've owned that fits all 6 feet 3 inches of Daniel.
We had finished 7.75 hours in the car with our children when "the accident" happened. The kids were finally content, and Daniel and I were chatting about how common our van type was. Daniel started to talk about how nice it drives and how he's not uncomfortable at all when a deer started to sprint across the street from our left side. I gasped at seeing the deer cross in front of us. My gasp made Daniel put on the brakes and look at me. I looked ahead and saw us running right into the side of a deer.
The deer was dead on impact, and apparently so was our beloved van :( thankfully the impact was not very strong to us and the airbags didn't go off. I'd describe the feeling as hitting a soggy mattress. My dad and brother thankfully came to save us and we were only 15 minutes from their house.
So now we are kind of stuck in Michigan :( we are waiting to hear the news of whether the insurance company is totaling the van or not. With $6500+ damage we are thinking its a goner. We will probably rent a car to drive home and my van hunting will resume again.
What a way to begin our vacation.

Growing like a bean

Another brilliant baby idea! :) I thought this would come in handy to measure our little bean. He seems to grow so quickly, this can keep us up to date. It's a baby measuring sheet, just lay babies head in the center and it tells you how long they are. Parents can measure baby from any direction, find more photos and info here.

Childbirth, Childbirth everywhere

We attended our first childbirth class last night, an event that neither Daniel or I was looking that forward to. I was hesitant for a few reasons, one being that the minute I put this on the calender THREE MONTHS AGO, other events happening on these specific Mondays have been coming up. Secondly, is that my husband has a condition that happens during every parenting type of class that we go to, lets call it "giggle-at-inappropriate-times disease." It's not that he is not interested in the topics, but for some reason the other parents in the classes that we go to are usually really reserved and quite. So we will sit in silence waiting for the class to begin, sit silently through the class and then leave. Daniel's response to this is to make jokes and laugh throughout the class. Childbirth class has been no exception to this trend, and I joined him in the giggling this time. Although it hurt so bad to try to hold in my laughter, I began to have tears. All of th...

Labor Induction Technique that does work....

Almost from the day that I found out that I was pregnant, I thought that Jesus told me (weird, I know) that baby Goulet was going to come on October 21st. October 21st is also the anniversary of Daniel and I getting engaged. The year that we got engaged October 21st was sweetest day, so Daniel thought that it was a perfect day to get engaged. Even though I have thought that whole time that I would have a baby on the 21st, I am not a patient woman. And I especially do not like surprises, so the suspense of going in the labor was killing me (see previous posts). On the 20 th , in my quest to go into labor I drank Castor oil. Gross I know, but I mixed it with juice and it wasn't bad. I went for me daily walk, and felt nothing. Within a couple of hours, the Castor oil had kicked in. Castor oil in found at drug stores, and is typically used as a laxative. I can now say from personal experience, that it is a good laxative if you would like to completely clean your bowels out...
