Top ten for Nathan

Nathan had his birthday and I forgot to write a top ten for him. Considering the utter failure I had with finishing Elijah's top ten list, I figured I would do this all in one post.

Top things that make Nathan awesome
 1. He is really musical, he can find the beat of a song and keep it. Nathan can usually sing a song after only hearing it once. I credit this to Auntie Jo's intensive ear training that she would do when he was younger. :) Every night we sing songs before bed and he normal requests adult songs instead of more children's rhythms. Reign down is still his number one song, followed close behind by a new song we have been singing by Bethel called "In your light." Nathan can also change the words in songs that he knows to make them funny.

2. Nathan is hilarious. He is at this funny stage where he can express himself but doesn't fully understand reason. This equals him saying some funny things. Like tonight when he said "Mom, are you an angel?"

 3. He loves to play pretend and has a vivid imagination. Nathan not only dresses up, but he really pretends that he is the character. I think his favorite things to dress up as are Spiderman, Buzz Lightyear, and a fireman. Miss Diane has a step stool at her house that he pretends to climb to save people when he is playing fireman there.

4. He is very passionate. Sometimes this quality works for me, sometimes it works against me. Either way, Nathan does most things with gusto!
 5. He loves to cuddle. Daniel got up early with the kids the other day and I got a visitor in my bed. Nathan just wanted to cuddle, and breathe on my face apparently. It would be Nathan's dream if I would sit and cuddle with him for the first hour after he wakes up.
 6. He can run! Nathan loves to run. Again, this is a quality that works for and against me. Sometimes I take him outside and race him around the block to see how far he can run. I figure with his tall and lanky genetics cross country running is a viable sport for him.
 7. He loves getting taken care of by others. Not sure how to day this, but Nathan loves things most kids hate. He LOVES getting his hair cut. Last week he couldn't wait for Miss Jen to cut his hair, and he sat perfectly still while she cut it. Nathan loves the doctor and insists on going with when any of us go. He also loves the dentist. Daniel and I think he likes the attention.
 8. Nathan loves to read books. I normally have to tell him that some of the books he picks have too many words, but he likes to try to keep his attention while I read to him anyway.
 9. Nathan loves technology. We have to really limit how much technology Nathan gets in a day. He has clear times in the morning and after nap that he can watch TV. Nathan is a whiz on my iphone. He know can open my phone, scroll to the screen with the game he wants and select it himself.
 10. He's a leader. I sometimes call Nathan "my bossy little first born." Nathan knows what kind of game he wants to play and he is not afraid to tell you how to play it.

Growing like a bean

Another brilliant baby idea! :) I thought this would come in handy to measure our little bean. He seems to grow so quickly, this can keep us up to date. It's a baby measuring sheet, just lay babies head in the center and it tells you how long they are. Parents can measure baby from any direction, find more photos and info here.

Childbirth, Childbirth everywhere

We attended our first childbirth class last night, an event that neither Daniel or I was looking that forward to. I was hesitant for a few reasons, one being that the minute I put this on the calender THREE MONTHS AGO, other events happening on these specific Mondays have been coming up. Secondly, is that my husband has a condition that happens during every parenting type of class that we go to, lets call it "giggle-at-inappropriate-times disease." It's not that he is not interested in the topics, but for some reason the other parents in the classes that we go to are usually really reserved and quite. So we will sit in silence waiting for the class to begin, sit silently through the class and then leave. Daniel's response to this is to make jokes and laugh throughout the class. Childbirth class has been no exception to this trend, and I joined him in the giggling this time. Although it hurt so bad to try to hold in my laughter, I began to have tears. All of th...

Labor Induction Technique that does work....

Almost from the day that I found out that I was pregnant, I thought that Jesus told me (weird, I know) that baby Goulet was going to come on October 21st. October 21st is also the anniversary of Daniel and I getting engaged. The year that we got engaged October 21st was sweetest day, so Daniel thought that it was a perfect day to get engaged. Even though I have thought that whole time that I would have a baby on the 21st, I am not a patient woman. And I especially do not like surprises, so the suspense of going in the labor was killing me (see previous posts). On the 20 th , in my quest to go into labor I drank Castor oil. Gross I know, but I mixed it with juice and it wasn't bad. I went for me daily walk, and felt nothing. Within a couple of hours, the Castor oil had kicked in. Castor oil in found at drug stores, and is typically used as a laxative. I can now say from personal experience, that it is a good laxative if you would like to completely clean your bowels out...
