Elijah is 2!

Elijah is 2 today!

Last year I did top 10 lists to tell about my darling children.  So I thought I would keep with tradition so here's all about Elijah lately:

1. Expressive Elijah is what we refer to his as.  Elijah gets excited about EVERYTHING.  He squeels and jumps over any event and we love this about him.  Whether its getting a sucker, getting a vitamin, getting a picture that his brother drew him, or getting a cup of water Elijah has the same excited response.  Imagine the squeel of a children that opens a new toy for a present, repeated 20 times a day.

2. Elijah sleeps without a pacifier! I made this my goal for him before he turned 2 and four days ago we got rid of his precious paci.  He has been pretty good about this transition, he hasn't cried much.  But he does have a party for one each night for about an hour in his crib.  Surprisingly, Nathan sleeps through his yelling, jumping and singing.

3. Elijah still loves to take baths.  He recently discovered the hand held shower head.  Elijah has been having some eczema problems so we've been trying to take baths every night. Plus, Elijah is REALLY messy so he usually needs a good rinse by night time.

4. Elijah is still a good eater.   There are some meals that he just doesn't feel like eating, and then he pigs out on snacks later.  Elijah would prefer just to eat off of my plate instead of having kid food.  He still asks for my food every night at dinner. Some of Elijah's favorite things are berries, pasta, fish (yes, salmon weird I know), popcorn, and yogurt.

5. Elijah is a sleeper! Elijah is happy if he gets 12 hours of sleep at night.  Elijah would also still prefer to take 2 naps a day (morning and afternoon).  I love this, but it makes me feel like we can't go anywhere.  So if we can, he only takes one afternoon nap for 1.5-3.5 hours.

6.  Elijah loves music.  He is not a dancer like Nathan is, but he likes to play his toys guitar and toy drums.  If I lose him at church, I know I only have to go look at a drumset and he will be there taking advantage of his pastor's kid privilege.

7.  Elijah is not very into TV.  He really only likes the harvest episode of Mighty Machines.  "Tractors" as he refers to it.  He also loves to point at the TV to chose a show from Netflix.  Elijah will only sit about 5 minutes to watch whatever he chose.  Elijah does love my iphone and uses it to flip through pictures and videos as much as he can.

8. Elijah is a helper. I always says "I the helper." He loves to help out in the kitchen and gets frustrated with me if I don't let him do enough.  He also loves to deliver items to others.  He loves bringing things to his brother and his dad.

9. Elijah loves to be held.  I think that he will go with pretty much any person that offers to hold him.  Considering he is fast approaching 30 pounds, I try not to hold him too long. If I am sitting down at home, chances are he is in my lap.

10.  Elijah is a great little brother.  He hates driving away from Nathan's preschool and always asks "where is he?" about Nathan.  Elijah loves picking Nathan up from school and usually runs right up to Nathan when we see him.  The boys have also really started playing together the past 2 months, and its so fun to watch them.  Eventhough, there play usually lasts about a minute before one of them cries.

This is what Nathan wrote to Elijah for his birthday:
Happy Birthday
My favorite thing is wrestling with Elijah.  I like to chase Elijah.  I like to share a room with you.  Elijah you're my favorite brother.  My favorite part is to say roar to you.

Growing like a bean

Another brilliant baby idea! :) I thought this would come in handy to measure our little bean. He seems to grow so quickly, this can keep us up to date. It's a baby measuring sheet, just lay babies head in the center and it tells you how long they are. Parents can measure baby from any direction, find more photos and info here.

Childbirth, Childbirth everywhere

We attended our first childbirth class last night, an event that neither Daniel or I was looking that forward to. I was hesitant for a few reasons, one being that the minute I put this on the calender THREE MONTHS AGO, other events happening on these specific Mondays have been coming up. Secondly, is that my husband has a condition that happens during every parenting type of class that we go to, lets call it "giggle-at-inappropriate-times disease." It's not that he is not interested in the topics, but for some reason the other parents in the classes that we go to are usually really reserved and quite. So we will sit in silence waiting for the class to begin, sit silently through the class and then leave. Daniel's response to this is to make jokes and laugh throughout the class. Childbirth class has been no exception to this trend, and I joined him in the giggling this time. Although it hurt so bad to try to hold in my laughter, I began to have tears. All of th...

Labor Induction Technique that does work....

Almost from the day that I found out that I was pregnant, I thought that Jesus told me (weird, I know) that baby Goulet was going to come on October 21st. October 21st is also the anniversary of Daniel and I getting engaged. The year that we got engaged October 21st was sweetest day, so Daniel thought that it was a perfect day to get engaged. Even though I have thought that whole time that I would have a baby on the 21st, I am not a patient woman. And I especially do not like surprises, so the suspense of going in the labor was killing me (see previous posts). On the 20 th , in my quest to go into labor I drank Castor oil. Gross I know, but I mixed it with juice and it wasn't bad. I went for me daily walk, and felt nothing. Within a couple of hours, the Castor oil had kicked in. Castor oil in found at drug stores, and is typically used as a laxative. I can now say from personal experience, that it is a good laxative if you would like to completely clean your bowels out...
