The day of labor

Labor Day weekend!!! I am so thankful to have this extra day off this weekend. Daniel officiated a wedding this weekend and had a worship burn so that combination kind of put a damper on our family day. But we made up for it today!! We packed in as much special Labor Day fun into today as we could handle.
First we took out the old power wheel and took it for a spin around the neighborhood. We ended at our Labor Day parade. The boys loved the parade and I actually think it was just as fun as the Fourth of July parade. We walked away from the parade with two BUCKETS of candy. That's right 2 sand pails full. At the beginning of the parade we instituted the "you can only eat what you can open yourself" rule and this slowed the candy eating down during the parade. Elijah only managed to eat 5 or 6 suckers. :)

After family nap time, we went to the Urbana pool with some friends. This was our first trip to this pool and we really liked it. I am so thankful that the boys have gotten so familiar swimming and being in the water.

Labor Induction Technique that does work....

Almost from the day that I found out that I was pregnant, I thought that Jesus told me (weird, I know) that baby Goulet was going to come on October 21st. October 21st is also the anniversary of Daniel and I getting engaged. The year that we got engaged October 21st was sweetest day, so Daniel thought that it was a perfect day to get engaged. Even though I have thought that whole time that I would have a baby on the 21st, I am not a patient woman. And I especially do not like surprises, so the suspense of going in the labor was killing me (see previous posts). On the 20 th , in my quest to go into labor I drank Castor oil. Gross I know, but I mixed it with juice and it wasn't bad. I went for me daily walk, and felt nothing. Within a couple of hours, the Castor oil had kicked in. Castor oil in found at drug stores, and is typically used as a laxative. I can now say from personal experience, that it is a good laxative if you would like to completely clean your bowels out...

Growing like a bean

Another brilliant baby idea! :) I thought this would come in handy to measure our little bean. He seems to grow so quickly, this can keep us up to date. It's a baby measuring sheet, just lay babies head in the center and it tells you how long they are. Parents can measure baby from any direction, find more photos and info here.

Childbirth, Childbirth everywhere

We attended our first childbirth class last night, an event that neither Daniel or I was looking that forward to. I was hesitant for a few reasons, one being that the minute I put this on the calender THREE MONTHS AGO, other events happening on these specific Mondays have been coming up. Secondly, is that my husband has a condition that happens during every parenting type of class that we go to, lets call it "giggle-at-inappropriate-times disease." It's not that he is not interested in the topics, but for some reason the other parents in the classes that we go to are usually really reserved and quite. So we will sit in silence waiting for the class to begin, sit silently through the class and then leave. Daniel's response to this is to make jokes and laugh throughout the class. Childbirth class has been no exception to this trend, and I joined him in the giggling this time. Although it hurt so bad to try to hold in my laughter, I began to have tears. All of th...
